Hi,
I was wondering if you guys can help me. There's something wrong with my Cd drive. It won't play Cd's or anything. I want to import Cd's to my iTunes, but the little dialog box doesn't come up that asks if I wanna do that. I've set all my auto-play defaults to what I want them to be, but nothing seems to be working. I also checked the CD to see if they're dirty, but they're not. Can you guys help me out? if you can, that would be great. Thanks,
Leslie
hmmm. my suggestion is restore your computer to earlier time and check it up.
go to programs, accessories submenu, system tools sub menu and system restore.
Raaj.
even though they don't auto play .. does the cds still show up in itunes or whatever media player you are using?

No. It doesn't show up at all. I just had to do a complete windows reinstall. Long story, but the Cde won't show up in iTunes at all.

And I am assuming the complete re install fixed the issue?
nope. It was working before the reinstall, but I tried it, and it's not working.
Try getting a new CD burner, if that doesn't fix the issue, try it on another computer.
Does the drive show up in my computer? Does the drive show up in my computer > properties > hardware > device manager > dvd cd rom drives?
Has anyone opened the computer and changed anything inside it? Was it a legal xp disk?
What does a legal XP disc have to do with it? I'm just wondering.
The only reason I asked is that most of the pirated xp's seem to be customised and tweeked. Whilst this in its self probably wouldn't cause the problem - infact I don't think you can remove optical drive support in nlite, it may be that someone that got a bit to involved in slimming down there xp release inadvertently deleeted a registry key which could cause the problem. Another posabilitty is that something nasty was intergreated into the install that is causing this. If your good, you can make stuff install automaticly with out giving it away by using the $oem$ folders and making a RunOnce entry in your sif.
Admittidly its not the most lightly cause of this issue, but things that the op is describing just shouldn't happen if everything was installed correctly.
I'm running windows vista, and yes it is a legal disk. No one messed with my computer, and the cd drive is in my drive list.

Hmm, it might just be that CD then? Some times, that is prone to happen.
Also, how long have you had this computer?
could just be a defective drive can you try a different drive in that computer?
